Amber Macklin is a Naarm-based artist who is currently preoccupied with bronze, drawing and the image-object. Amber completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at RMIT in 2022 and has recently completed a Bachelor of Fine Art Honours at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2023. Although she is a ceramicist by training and trade, Amber’s predominately workshop-based practice sees her cast, pour and weld to produce her objects. Through repetition, she looks to trace her desire as it shifts and circles. Most importantly, Amber is a firebug, attracted to all things that melt and vitrify above 900 degrees. The first job she ever wanted was to be a volcanologist (just ask her mum).
